LikedCasa San Agustín is the best hotel in Cartagena. It is hands down my partner’s and my favorite place to stay. Five stars all around. Stay here you will not regret it!!!

“Timeless Classic”

LikedExceptional landmark - Greta architecture and many spaces to unwind and enjoy within the property

DislikedI think the restaurants could be elevated to new hights / they are very good yet have the potential to become exceptional as the place / more attention and creativity is needed

“Spectacular Hotel and Exceptional Staff”

LikedBeautiful property and attentive staff in Cartagena Centro. The location is central to everything. The room was large, the pool inviting and the restaurant scrumptious. I would like to particularly compliment the exceptional bar staff, particularly Amanda. We needed some extra help during a medical emergency and the staff was most attentive and helpful. We’re very grateful for their assistance. The concierge also arranged any drivers and tours for us as needed. The entire stay here was wonderful.

DislikedIf I have to have a complaint, I would say there was sometimes noise from the room above us - walking heavy, moving furniture and dropping something on the floor. However overall, this was a minor issue and did not detract from our enjoyment.

“Elegant luxury with a traditional Cartagena feel in the middle of the Old City.”

LikedThis was our first time to Casa San Agustin and to Cartagena. We were in absolute awe of the property and the service. The hotel is centrally located but feels like you are stepping into an oasis of calm in the middle of the hustle. Top recommendation for those visiting Cartagena and want to stay in the middle of the Old City in a refined and luxury establishment. Special thanks to Yanelis who was particularly attentive and helped us book a private boat tour and arranged my husband’s birthday. Five stars all around.

DislikedIf I had to pick hard, the pool was a bit small - not really designed for serious sunbathing. But we didn’t pick the hotel for the pool; we picked it for luxury and location - both of which met (and exceeded) our standards.

“My best vacations ever”

LikedThe colonial era house felt like a palace, without any disturbances but quite homely and quieter than expected. There was total peace throughout.

DislikedNo complaints

“A historical gem for a romantic stay in the walled city”

LikedCasa San Augustin is a wonderful and stylish boutique hotel, set in 17th century colonial homes. The rooms are comfy, quiet and relaxing, with wooden beams and stonework, spacious bathrooms, great AC (a must). If you can splurge, I highly recommend booking the Premium Suite with garden and jacuzzi (with one caveat - see downsides), perfect to cool off from the Colombian heat; the shared pool is also a bit on the small side. The hotel is ideally located at the heart of the walled city of Cartagena. We explored many restaurants from there (I recommend Uma Cantina and Carmen for the foodies and Tacos del Gordo for a more “hole in the wall” experience). Alma – the hotel’s restaurant – also serves delicious a la carte breakfast and Colombian dishes for lunch and dinner. The staff is very professional and charming. Overall, a great pick in a city with many options.

DislikedThe garden and jacuzzi in the Premium Suite are directly under the windows of several other rooms on the upper floors. This affects the general privacy, and the management could maybe rearrange the plants to remediate. We reported a couple of times that the water in the shower never got hot (it did in the sink) but rather stayed lukewarm even after running for a while, but this was never addressed.
