LikedWe stayed at Bawe island for 2 nights of our honeymoon, in one of the Lagoon Suites, which was absolutely stunning. We had the most amazing stay. The food was amazing, the facilities were beautiful, and Josephina and all the staff were incredible. It was a lovely unexpected touch to give everyone bikes to get around the island.

DislikedNothing - we had the best stay. The only downside was that we had to pay $500 USD extra for the airport/speedboat transfer as we were staying for only 2 nights, which seems quite pricey.

LikedThe property is very new with top facilities and amenities. All details and materials are from the highest standards. Located on a private island, it gives guests privacy, detached from the main island but still reachable for daily excursions. Simply perfect

LikedThe location and setup is very beautiful, it’s private and it has a beautiful pool and beach. We had a dedicated concierge and we were picked up by hotel staff before security which was a life saver since our evisa hadn’t yet been approved and we had no issues since the hotel staff helped us. It is a first and worked amazingly

DislikedIn our case the setup of the outside toilet and shower didn’t work as i had to keep moving my cosmetics inside so they didn’t spoil sitting outside in the heat, toilet door was also very laud during the night time hence we woke each other up every time.

LikedMy girlfriend & me stayed 7 nights in Bawe Island. We have been in (the best) 5 star hotels in The Maledives, Dubai, Bali, Santorini and more. Also on another 5 star resort on the Zanzibar main island. For us, we would rate Bawe Island a 9.9/10. Why 9.9? The general manager, our butler, the room, the food in the main restaurant, the ocean, the gym & the quietness, were absolutely amazing. We recharged so well in this hotel. And we had a very positive experience. The service by our butler, the general managers, the chefs and 80% of the staff was truly 10/10 amazing. For me, 20% off the staff was less happy & could be trained a little more. The island is very beautiful. In Zanzibar, there is high tide and low tide. In Bawe Island, the ocean was more beautiful then in another hotel in Paje, Zanzibar. There can be some moments in the day where the tide is a little lower, but we had the ocean very beautiful most of the day. For us, we would highly recommend to check Bawe Island out if you go to Tanzania or Zanzibar. And we thank the staff for their great efforts & the amazing experience.

LikedWe loved the relaxed vibe of the island. It worked well for families as the kids were always super safe and the staff were amazingly friendly to them. The setting is gorgeous. The food plentiful and was delicious. The rooms were enormous and incredibly thoughtfully planned out. Each villa comes with bikes so you can potter around the island. The spa was amazing! The loveliest ladies working there with beautifu natural products.

DislikedWe were there in the build up to Christmas and we, and a few other guests commented on how much Christmas music was playing,....constantly! It was too much. There was also lots of different music playing in various areas fo the hotel which sometimes clashed together. I think in this type of resort and given the remote peaceful location it would have been nice to have less music playing or none at all at times. There was one evening during which the main restaurant put on a Moroccan night. The whole main area was converted and looked very dramatic. The food was delicious. Some girls came over from Stonetown and danced, middle eastern style dancing. They looked like they were having a great time but again i wasnt sure it was in tune with the hotels rustic, island vibe and was slightly awkward. I wouldnt want to attend this type of evening if i returned to the island. Sadly all the watersports option, even the wind or paddle related ones were so expensive it seemed silly money so we didnt spend as much time on the sea as we had hoped.
