LikedGreat service, great people. Excellent hotel throughout
DislikedQuite a bit of litter in surrounding streets
LikedStunning spacious room, best location in Edinburgh without a doubt. We paid for a castle view and requested that we be allocated a larger room with good views which we kindly were. Not cheap but worth the treat. Also love the Prince bar attached to hotel
DislikedOur deluxe castle view room had a few different room styles for the same price. Some looked much smaller which had I been allocated I wouldn’t have been happy with. I did ask in advance to be allocated the biggest room style for our which was worth it.
LikedLocation, comfort
DislikedThe bath tub was very highand no walk in shower
LikedWe've stayed there several times, always excellent.
LikedThe front desk staff warmly welcomed us and immediately checked into getting us booked for a meal - we were arriving on the late end for lunch on Sunday. The meal was excellent - we had the Sunday roast. You can order from the bar menu in the restaurant as well, which my sons did to get burgers. We chose the full breakfast in the morning - the wait staff was kind and very attentive, food was excellent - my husband is diabetic so needed low sugar/low carb options and there were many available for the meal. The amenities in the room are from the Irene Forte spa, which is present in most Rocco Forte hotels. The little details and attention to guests like slippers for turn down service, and immediately providing umbrellas for our evening walk when the rain started were very appreciated. Location is excellent, directly by Waverley station, and nearby the St. Andrews Square and Princes Street tram stations from the airport. Most old town activities are less than a 15 minute walk.
DislikedWe had requested that rooms be located nearby, and that was not possible - however the arrangement worked with one floor apart. When booking, I had wanted a room with two separate beds for my sons - we could not find one on the site. The room they had with a king bed was two double beds pushed together with a king sheet set - this could have been converted to two beds. This was minor in the grand scheme, the hotel did a great job hosting us otherwise.
LikedThe staff go above and beyond to meet your expectations. Very friendly and always on hand to try and assist. Ross in the whisky bar is a walking encyclopedia.
DislikedNothing, it was all fabulous
