Palacio Duhau - Park Hyatt Buenos Aires

LikedAbove all, the staff at the Park Hyatt are superb -- knowledgeable, helpful, proactive, and charming. Our room was extremely comfortable -- great bed linens and an intelligent layout and use of space. The breakfast was substantial and varied: what's more it was available until 11:00 am -- a generous deadline for which we were extremely grateful. Finally, this is a truly beautiful property, clean, tastefully decorated and maintained, and situated in one of the most elegant neighbourhoods in Buenos Aires.

DislikedJust one caution: because of the nature of the property -- two buildings spanned by a cascade of green gardens above ground and a spacious marble passageway beneath -- there are a number of different levels to negotiate. Elevators as well as stairs are available to accommodate the differences.

LikedWe loved having breakfast on the terrace in the walled garden. We liked that we could have options of buffet or table service and that if we asked, our waitress would try to find us a table outside. Our room in the new 'tower' was quiet, well designed and very comfortable. The art installations were an unexpected bonus. We did not have dinner in the hotel, but were delighted with the recommendations made by the concierge team, who we found very helpful and informative. Do have a drink in the hotel bar as the cocktail waiters are highly skilled. The hotel is in a great location and we found we could easily walk to many of this wonderful city's main attractions.

DislikedOur only issue was when we came back to stay for a further night after we had been on a 10 day trip. I had asked for a late check in and if possible a late checkout the next day as we had an evening flight and wanted to spend further time exploring the city during the day. I appreciate this is not always possible and indeed the late check out was not available. So I asked if there was somewhere that we could change before we left for the airport. I was told we could use the spa. However, when we came back from our city tour bike ride, we were told that we would have to change in the business centre toilets. This was rather difficult and certainly not ideal and spoiled what otherwise had been the perfect stay. I think for a hotel of this quality, a better alternative could have been offered.

LikedPalacio Duhau is a beautifully designed and built hotel which oozes a quite charm and provides a very relaxing environment. We breakfasted each morning on the terrace next to the courtyard garden which was lovely as the breakfast selections were varied and of high quality. We would recommend a late night drink in the bar as the cocktail waiters are highly skilled. Service was reasonable given that the hotel was at full capacity. Our room was of ample size, very clean and had every facility we required. The bed was very comfortable. We were in the new 'tower' which is linked to the old part of the hotel by a 'tunnel' with a very interesting art collection. Situated in the Recoleta area, the hotel is in a great location from which to explore this beautiful city.

DislikedWe asked for a late check out as we had an evening flight and went on a cycle tour of the city on the morning of our departure. The hotel was busy, so this option was unavailable. Consequently, my wife and I were told that if we wanted to change into our travelling clothes, then we could do this in one of the toilets near the business centre in the hotel. I believe there should have been a better option made available to us, especially as I made the request and explained what we were doing to a number of the reception/concierge team on our previous visit to the hotel ten days earlier. A rather disappointing end to an otherwise superb stay.

LikedJosé and the whole concierge team offered an exceptional service - very personal and friendly. The whole staff of the hotel let no wish remain open. It was a wonderful stay in BA.

LikedLocation is good, a historical building in the heart of Recoleta. The rooms are big and well maintained, and the garden is very beautiful. The Staff is remarkably nice, very detail oriented and accommodating.
