LikedJust back from a one-week stay at GoldenEye—after traveling all the way from Europe—we’d like to share a few reflections. The true highlights of GoldenEye are undoubtedly its stunning location and many of its wonderful people. Standouts include Kalicia at Bizot Restaurant, who treated us like family and went above and beyond to fulfill every wish, and Pops, our driver, who brought Jamaican history and culture to life while pointing out celebrity homes—an absolute gem of a person. The bartenders and crew at Button Beach created a vibrant, joyful atmosphere, mixing excellent GoldenEye rum cocktails to a constant backdrop of reggae music. And finally, sunset at Shabeen—with drummers and dancing—was simply unforgettable. That said, a few aspects fell short of our expectations. The food, in terms of quality, value for money, and variety, did not quite live up to the overall standard we had hoped for. The rooms feel a bit outdated, although they are fully functional, spacious, and comfortable. Additionally, the welcome desk team came across as somewhat passive and not particularly proactive. Overall, GoldenEye is a place with a soul—perfect for easy, relaxed, and laid-back living. On our way back, we stopped for lunch at Half Moon Hotel; for those seeking a more polished, highly organized, and activity-driven holiday, that may be the better fit, offering excellent food at even more accessible prices. It is impeccably run—though distinctly American in style—and delivers a classic five-star experience as expected. In conclusion, GoldenEye charms with its spirit, people, and setting, but could elevate the experience further by refining some of its core offerings.

“Great but not perfect”
LikedThe lagoon villa we stayed in was stunning and well appointed. The resort is beautiful and the staff are very friendly and accommodating.
DislikedLimited dining options when we stayed. Restaurants and bars were not open as advertised. There was little atmosphere, and made the overall experience lacklustre. A shame as so much was right
LikedThe property is exceptional, as is the service. Even when the hotel is pretty booked, you still get a sense of privacy and tranquillity.
DislikedConsidering the daily room rate, the breakfast at least should be included
“Great experience, superb &. magic place.”
LikedFood was superb! best food I tried in Jamaica but I was missing more options for dinner at the Bizet. I didn´t like the buffet. The hut we booked was very nice and quiet, love the shower outside.
DislikedThe cocktails were a really challenge, bad mojitos, bad Negroni, finally we decided to move to beer and the vine.
“Overall we loved it and didn’t want to leave. We’ve travelled extensively in Jamaica and this is by far the most…”
LikedLoved the space and tranquility. The grounds are stunning and incredibly well kept - it really is a slice of paradise. And it’s so good to see a luxury resort showing such respect for the environment and the culture of Jamaica (we have stayed at other luxury resorts and ended up feeling pretty horrified by lack of Jamaican influences and the shocking level of waste - especially when it comes to those godawful all-inclusive ‘international’ buffets!) The rooms are very comfortable - we stayed in a beach hut and fell in love with the design and attention to detail. All but one of the staff were wonderful - really friendly and helpful, but they also managed to be low-key and respectful of our space. Service was spot on.
DislikedJust one staff member working in the office area on reception was really cold and dismissive - something that was probably more noticeable because everyone else was so friendly and attentive. And perhaps we just caught him on a bad couple of days. It was a shame though as he was the last person we had any dealings with (checking out) and it left us feeling a bit upset. The food and drink was very expensive - prices that didn’t feel justified for the quality (it was ok but not that great) Charging $5usd for a small packet of plantain chips seems pretty extortionate… not to mention $17usd for a small bowl of fruit salad at breakfast! We ended up driving into town for meals - there is much cheaper and tastier food to be found outside the resort.
“So relaxing 2 days felt like a week”
LikedLovely cabins - spacious, clean with great bathroom
DislikedMore shade at pools
“heavenly paradise with great people, creatures, delicious food drink and music and the water is so clear”
Likedit's paradise. private. chilled. so many places to relax incredible staff Treshana on front desk, Kevin Aitken Donette Simone Trevor Andrew Aldrick Glenn. they couldn't do enough for you to make you smile and so helpful and adorable
Dislikedloved everything
“So close yet so far! Absolutely unacceptable new policy of not offering tours of the Fleming villa even when it is not…”
LikedPrivate beaches, lagoon, design.
DislikedNew policy of not allowing tours of the Fleming Villa even when unoccupied. Unworthy of the name Goldeneye since it is no longer part of the property.
