Linthwaite House Hotel

LikedWhat a beautiful hotel! The location and grounds are lovely, the service was good and our room was spacious and very comfortable (superior room). Breakfast was excellent too.

DislikedI wouldn’t stay here again with our dog. Dogs are not permitted in the bar, lounge or dining room (even for breakfast) and whilst you can leave the dog in the room ours unfortunately wasn’t able to settle without one of us there (even though he has done in other hotels in the past). Not the hotel’s fault and they were very open about their policy from the start but it left us feeling restricted to the room. After having had this experience I now wouldn’t stay in a hotel with this dog policy again, in my opinion a hotel should either be dog friendly and provide at least one communal indoor area you can have food and drink with your dog or not allow dogs. Also on the one occasion my husband did go and sit in the bar it took 40 mins for him to be served (in the end he went to the bar to order) whilst others were served at their tables much more quickly. It may have been because he had his laptop with him but still felt a let down.

DislikedThe service was exceptional, and the reception team was incredibly welcoming, professional, and helpful throughout our stay. We were also kindly offered another room when we mentioned that we were not completely satisfied with the first one, which we truly appreciated.

LikedAn fantastic hotel in an amazing location. Well appointed rooms and spotlessly clean. Enjoyed the bar and lounge with a good whiskey selection and helpful staff. Breakfasts were superb, great choice and attentive, friendly staff. The hotel and gardens are extremely well kept with amazing views from this fantastic location. All the staff were extremely helpful, friendly, efficient and professional.

DislikedWe struggled a little bit with the pillows, and there wasn't a selection to choose from, but that's just personal choice.

Likedthe views, food and attention to detail

DislikedThe gym was a bit basic. SOME (in-room) items need maintenance but generally the hotel is v well maintained.

LikedThe breakfast staff was excellent and the food was excellent. Reception staff helped us plan our trip very well.

DislikedThe prices need to be reduced to make it more affordable

LikedThe location the view the food are all fantastic.

DislikedThe mattress is too old and soft, sleeping for two nights my back was painful. The Gym is way too small and do not want to stay there.

LikedEverything

LikedA breathtaking setting, with magnificent gardens and a spectacular location right on Lake Windermere. The staff were excellent—quietly attentive, warm and engaging when we had questions, without ever being intrusive. We also enjoyed the excellent wine list and high-quality Conservatory Dining Menu. A truly beautiful and memorable stay.

DislikedWe had a garden room - the shower was a little tiny but it was adequate. Lovely toiletries though.
