“Great location. Nice place. It might look expensive but the place is a huge relative value compared with other places…”

LikedThis place is magical. You might think the cost is high but when you compare it with other places in the area the price is a little higher but the location and facilities are much better.

DislikedThat I did not have enough time to enjoy the pool and hit tub. (My fault)

“It was our anniversary and we found champagne, cake and a lovely card in our room. Very thoughtful!”

LikedBeautiful, quiet at bedtime, piano bar and the staff was so friendly.

DislikedNo ice bucket or wine glasses, you had to request from housekeeping. But really that was literally the worst thing about the hotel!

“Fabulous 20th Anniversary Stay!”

LikedThe staff was outstanding and sent us goodies to celebrate our 20th anniversary. They even thought to send milk and cookies for our kids. Location and amenities were outstanding. Food was tasty at The Fig and service was good. Loved the lounge, Fig and pool area. Cafe was a nice option for on-the-go, light breakfast. Wished we had time for the Japanese restaurant. It was exciting the they were filming a movie there and It wasn't intrusive at all. I went to the pool twice late afternoon and it was easy to find a seat/towels at the pool and the hot tub was full but not overcrowded. Didn't have time for the spa. The room was quiet. We liked that the outdoor lobby was very inviting. All in all, I'd give it a 9.5 and rounded up to 10

DislikedParking was too expensive but the attendants were good. The only downside was that the room smelled musty. It was especially noticeable when you first walk into the room. I don't think the windows opened on the 2nd floor either. We were mostly in the rooms to sleep and then out during the day. I heard in two years they will demolish/renovate the building (keeping the massive tree) The pool was out of towels when my husband went down early evening and he said he didn't see an attendant. I was slightly worried about security for the side door. While convenient, we came back in the evening and it still wasn't locked. Maybe they make it key card entry at a certain time later

LikedI got my first room and was not pleased with it, although the view was impeccable. I called Destiny at the front desk and she made the changes with minimal cost to make me happy. Destiny was the greatest!

DislikedSome of the rooms were older and the decor could use a refresh.

“Absolutely my favorite place to stay in Santa Monica let alone LA in general. It felt like a getaway and that’s what…”

LikedLoved the tropical and private vibe. The pool Was excellent and staff was BEYOND polite! The Bungalow was not huge but felt very private and like a beach house. I’ve already booked my return stay next week!

DislikedThe restaurant was I’d say just slightly better than average. Service was still good but the food itself I wouldn’t call amazing. Sausage was odd and flavorless like it was boiled, and overall it just didn’t live up to the standards the rest of the hotel set. It was also extremely expensive for what it was. An omelette a coffee and a Bloody Mary for $100 (without tip) seemed steep to me even for a Fairmont.
